Team Rieju strike up two January wins
Rieju Class Champion of Dakar 2011
Italian Pilot Philip Ciotti claimed a 1st place Marathon production class
win on a Rieju MRT450 pro in the ultimate Rally the Dakar.
After the success of the Pharaohs Rally in 2010, it was the factory
Italian teams first time in the Dakar which began in Buenos Aires and
involved over 5000km of wild racing across Argentina and Chile.
The teams pre event planning was literally thrown into the air when the
teams normal rider Andrea Fesani suffered serious injury in training
before leaving for Buenos Aires. With only one month to prepare for the
rally of rallies, an enthusiastic Philip Ciotti was drafted in to race.
The result was fantastic, considering that it is the first official
participation of RIEJU and Ciotti in this competition. To finish the Dakar
alone is some achievement but to get an overall position of 58 is a great
testament to both the rider and machine.

1st round of the southern centre championship
Ben Shuttleworths first outing in 2011 on the Rieju MRT450 Pro started
with a great holeshot, Ben then maintained the lead right to the end to
take his first victory in 2011.
